Stay Hydrated for Ninja Success

Drink, Drink, Drink!
Water is one of the bodies most essential nutrients. It makes up almost 60% of your body weight. It’s really important for bodily functions and overall health that adults and kids drink an adequate amount of water especially when being active. Check out this article from eatright.org about your child’s water requirements: Child's Water Needs

When kids are busy having fun they often don't want to stop for a drink. During our classes we have frequent water breaks. Our instructors insure that everyone gets a drink. Even the kids who say they aren't thirsty.

If you are having a hard time getting your kids to drink water try these tips. Do a family water challenge. Keep track of everyone's water consumption on a chart with stickers. You can also make fancy ice cubes or use a cute or cool water bottle like our USA Ninja Challenge Water Bottles. There are even apps for your phone that can be used to track your water drinking.

What about sports drinks?
Don't rely too much on sports drinks, which contain salt and sugar. Drinks like Gatorade thirst quencher contain as much sugar as a soft drink. On average, a 20 oz sports drink contains about 8 teaspoons of sugar. "Healthy children don't lose a lot of salt in their sweat," Dr. Steinberg (professor of pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, in Dallas) explains. "Water is sufficient."
